Let the alpine adventures begin!

Colorado has just overtaken Florida as the luxury housing hot spot, snagging five of the 10 spots on this week’s most expensive homes list—just in time for ski season to kick off in earnest, sparking a flood of interest in the state’s many resorts.

Needless to say, any outdoor enthusiasts with very deep pockets will have their pick of a very lavish spread of winter wonderlands. The most luxurious? A $69 million mansion in Aspen that hasn’t even been built—and which tops the list this week.

Crafted by Whitecap Design in collaboration with Studio 133 and KA DesignWorks, the seven-bedroom estate, which is located in the exclusive Starwood neighborhood, is estimated to be complete next spring or early summer—so those who are itching to head to the slopes in the next few months might want to pass.

The 6.51-acre property is surrounded by majestic Elk Mountain views along with vistas from Ajax Mountain to Mount Sopris.

Inside, the 13,341-square-foot residence boasts a fitness center, home theater, entertainment room, wine room, and primary suite with a private terrace.

Other pricey properties this week include a Palm Beach, FL, residence that was once home of society architect John L. Volk, an oceanfront Palladian-style estate in California, and a Mountain Village, CO, mansion with slopeside access.
