A stunning Moroccan-inspired desert sanctuary in California has hit the market for $19 million—offering a potential new owner an array of opulent amenities, including a soaking tub with a built-in champagne chiller and a home movie theater.

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom property, which was built by Moroccan construction workers, is designed to look like a traditional riad, while also serving as the perfect space for both “entertaining and tranquility.”

Located in Palm Desert, CA, the awe-inspiring abode is spread across 12,650 square feet—with much of the floor plan centered around a courtyard with a retractable glass roof.

The home took several years to build but was finally completed in 2009.

It comes with a luxurious pool and lush landscaping that surrounds the gorgeous home.

The aptly-named “Casbah Cove” is described in its listing as a “Moroccan-inspired masterpiece” that blends “timeless elegance with modern luxury.

“This private sanctuary offers wellness and relaxation in the heart of Palm Desert,” it continues.

Inside the home, there are touches of Moroccan decor, including tiles on floor that feature geometric patterns, while many of the spaces are decked out in black, white and gold finishes, giving it an elegant, yet ornate, feel.

“The home features 4 ensuite bedrooms, including a private guest house, each with outdoor access, and a versatile bonus room for a fifth bedroom, gym, or theater,” the listing adds.

Many of the touches and furnishings are custom to the house and included in the sale of the home.

Outside on the .87-acre lot, there is a circular pool as well as a 75-foot lap pool and spa overlooking the city.

According to Karista Smith, with Coldwell Banker Realty, who is co-listing the home with Jade Mills, the home’s unique design was inspired by a trip that the original owner made to Morocco—during which he fell in love with the traditional decor there.

“The original owner just loved Morocco and wanted to bring a piece of it here. We don’t have anything like it so that really makes it stand out,” Smith says.

The seller is the home’s second owner, who Smith says fell in love with it immediately.

“From the moment you walk in the door, the quality and the detail of the property blows you away,” she says. “It’s almost like walking inside of a piece of art. It’s just every single little detail is just so amazing with meticulous detail of everything.

“It’s the crown jewel of the house. It’s wonderful,” Smith explains. “It’s almost like a secret garden feel when you first come in. It feels very oasislike even when the roof is closed. It just really gives you a feeling of complete relaxation and like you’ve escaped the daily life.

“There are a lot of modern touches that were added to the house. They were done for actual living and done in a very high-end way. It’s kind of modern luxury meets your Moroccan classic style.”

Smith adds that she loves the layout with the bedrooms on one side and the living spaces on another, both connected to the courtyard and with access to the outdoor space.

“The coolest part about it is how walkable the house is,” she says. “So even though it’s so much square footage, it all connects together in such a cool way that it doesn’t feel overwhelming. It feels like a really cool home.”

The home has been on the market before, and Smith says she and Mills are trying to highlight the magic of the property.

“It’s an open area which has like a Tiffany-blue color that opens completely to the outdoors [with] a disappearing window there. There’s a giant movie screen,” Smith says, noting that the screen comes up from the ground.

The area was once a hookah lounge for the previous owner, but the seller does not utilize it for that purpose.

The home is in the Bighorn community and therefore comes with access to golf and other convenient amenities, while still retaining its privacy.

“The views are absolutely sensational. You have mountain views, you have city light views, you have desert views, and then you also have golf course views,” Smith points out. “It feels like a secluded sanctuary even though you’re within prime Palm Desert.”

“I can’t imagine anybody not liking it after they’ve been inside of it,” Smith says. “I’m just looking forward to finding that right person that’s really going to appreciate it, because I’m absolutely obsessed with this house. It’s just stunning.”
