Restaurant mogul and Mr. Chow founder Michael Chow is making yet another attempt to offload his exquisitely designed Los Angeles mansion, putting it back on the market for the fifth time in six years—this time with a price tag of $65 million.

Chow, 85, and his wife, Eva, first listed the staggering 26,552-square-foot estate in October 2018 for a hefty $78 million. They took it off the market about a year later.

And thus began a lengthy real estate roller-coaster ride for the couple, whose art-filled home has since been relisted four times, with the price steadily decreasing by $13 million.

The enormous estate is located on “the finest street in Holmby Hills,” according to the listing. It also calls attention to its intriguing design inspired by the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid.

And the museum comparisons don’t end there.

Chow has filled the home with one-of-a-kind pieces of art, turning the home into a living gallery.

“Inspired by the iconic Reina Sofia museum in Madrid & built by a world class art collector on the finest street in Holmby Hills, a spectacular backdrop was created for a personal collection of antiquities and contemporary art,” the listing states.

Completed in 2005, the estate took seven years to construct. It’s also located just down the road from the Playboy Mansion, which found a new owner in 2016 for $100 million.

Though Chow’s property equals the extravagance of the late Hugh Hefner‘s former home, his Holmby Hills property could not be more different in its design.

Historic details

It’s hard to see why no one has yet snatched up this handsome Holmby Hills home. There’s nothing else like it.

According to the listing, the extraordinary dwelling has “museum-quality rooms,” including an art deco library that has been described as “the best room in LA.” There are also 16th- and 17th-century Florentine carved ceilings and exquisite light fixtures.

The primary bedroom is something else with its tray ceiling and spa bathroom, complete with a free-standing porcelain soaking tub.

The home proved to be the perfect backdrop for Chow’s extensive art collection.

Awe-inspiring amenities

The facilities are unparalleled and include a laundry room and a home office. There’s also a three-story guest cottage, a cinema room, an entertainment complex, a wine room, and an outdoor ballroom.
