Lets get to the “point”—A-frame homes are awesome.

With a steep pitch and plenty of personality, a solid A-frame can really stand out in your home search. But A-frames don’t just look cool; these triangular-shaped structures are full of history.

While they’ve been around for centuries, A-frames rose in popularity in the U.S. during World War II and the years that followed. You typically won’t find them in big cities or the suburbs but rather in mountainous vacation spots or lakeside retreats.

These days, A-frames have made a comeback. Many of the old A-frames are celebrated for their vintage charm, while some builders are designing their own, sleek, modern versions of the classic structure. This week, we found five awesome examples, all priced under $400,000.

Scroll on to see five A-frames that are adorable, affordable, and available.

1. 7411 Lakewood Rd, Lexington, MI

Price: $275,000

A serene family home: Many of the homes on this list are being used as short-term rentals, including this one. A-frames often make for ideal vacation homes. They’re usually not too large, not too pricey, and offer a unique respite from the boxes many of us are used to.

And while this serene, 1,250 square-foot home could be a great escape, it has the charm of a beloved family home. With a large patio and lots of green space, there’s room for kids and pets to roam. And with three bedrooms, there’s abundant space for friends and family.

2. 13003 County Road 1556, Ada, OK

Price: $375,000

Cute in the country: Everything about this charming A-frame is welcoming. With a tall stone chimney and a forest of trees surrounding it, this sweet cabin on 2 acres has fairy-tale cottage curb appeal.

Inside, the vibe is cozy and rustic. Though we’ll admit, this home from 1982 feels a little dated: There’s a lot of carpet. Still, the 3,000-square-foot residence has a large kitchen with an island, a cozy fireplace in the living room, plus a surprise loft in one of the four bedrooms. Indeed, this Oklahoma A-frame is A-OK!

5. 6082 Beach Rd, Johannesburg, MI

Price: $367,900

Lakeside living: While some might seek out an A-frame for its unique character, it’s clear that the main draw for this two-bedroom is not just its appearance but its location, too: It’s just a short staircase away from a dunk in the picturesque lake below.

But the house itself isn’t lacking when it comes to looks, either. The blue siding gives this A-frame a fun, beachy vibe while the gingerbread accents around the roofline add some whimsy.
