A four-story penthouse in downtown Manhattan designed, in part, by the minimalist interior designer behind Kim Kardashian’s Los Angeles home has hit the market for $45 million, making it the most expensive listing in SoHo.
Spanning the top four floors of a 1915 cast-iron building in the neighborhood’s historic district, the home was originally designed by New York’s Gachot Studios and then “reimagined” by Belgian minimalist Axel Vervoordt, according to the listing with Clayton Orrigo and Stephen Ferrara of the Hudson Advisory Team at Compass.
Kardashian has famously described her Vervoordt-designed Los Angeles mansion as a “minimal monastery.”
In this SoHo penthouse, Vervoordt “refined the finishes and furnishings to create a harmonious blend of modern luxury and timeless elegance,” according to the listing, which hit the market last month.

The seller is Eli Bronfman, an heir to the Seagram liquor fortune, according to The Wall Street Journal, which reported his purchase of the penthouse for little over $35.6 million in 2022.
A private elevator opens onto the 6,814-square-foot penthouse’s lower level, on the fifth floor of the building, which holds a library, a mediation room and flexible spaces that could be used for bedrooms, staff rooms or a home office.
Upstairs, on the sixth floor, is a newly remodeled kitchen and an open-plan living and dining room with a wood-burning fireplace.

Another story up, there’s a media room and the primary bedroom suite, which opens onto a patio with a Zen garden and a custom Japanese soaking tub. And beyond that is the roof terrace, fitted with a sauna, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and dining area, and 360-degree views of lower Manhattan.
Crain’s New York Business first reported the news of the listing.
