Being traded is a part of a life as a professional athlete; and when a deal goes down, there are often ripples in the real estate market.

After all, when players are dealt to a new team, they frequently put their (often brand-new) homes on the market.

The most recent example? Former Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev has listed his recently completed home in Tampa, FL, after a trade to the Utah Hockey Club.

“I was hoping he could have spent more time in the home, but this is a great opportunity for him,” says listing agent Jennifer Zales, with Coldwell Banker Realty, who is selling the home for a second time. “When you work with athletes, which I do on a regular basis, being traded is a reality. If that comes up, you just get to work very quickly.”

The home was completed late last year.

Sergachev purchased the home for just over $9 million less than a year ago, before it was finished in late 2023.

Just a few months later, it’s up for grabs again—this time for $10.9 million. And the home’s recent completion factors into the price.

“What makes this home unique is the new construction,” Zales notes. “We have very little new construction in our market; and by virtue of it being new construction, it is going to rate better for insurance. And it’s going to be built with the newest design styles.”

Bedrooms are on the upper levels.

The main living space is on the second floor.

There are six bedrooms and five full bathrooms spread across 8,766 square feet. The lower level offers a 1o-car garage, while the living spaces are on the three-level home’s upper floors.

A glass elevator and a floating staircase are modern touches.

The style is pure modern—something Zales says is becoming popular in the area. Floating staircases and glass elevators give the space its contemporary edge, along with the flat roof and exterior elevation with clean lines, she adds

The floor plan is open, with rooms divided by features such as fireplaces instead of walls.

“The builder did a lot of trim and millwork in the home, so you don’t just have drywall ceilings,” Zales says. “I also really love the wine room. It’s a glass-enclosed, temperature-controlled wine storage. In addition to being functional, it’s like a showpiece in the middle of the home.”

The wine room is a chic focal point.

Outside, an open-air kitchen leads to the pool. Just beyond, stepping stones lead to the waterfront, which has a new dock and seawall.

But you can also enjoy the water vistas from a more elevated perch.

“You go to the second floor and also have patio seating and elevated views,” says Zales.

And boating buffs will appreciate the property’s direct access to Tampa Bay, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico.

“I think this house really can appeal to many different kinds of buyers,” Zales notes. “It’s a great entertaining home. It’s great if you have a large number of automobiles. It’s also great for somebody who’s very conscious of making sure that they’re getting optimal insurance. It’s very centrally located, so it could appeal to pretty much anybody.”

Sergachev played for the Lightning for seven seasons and helped lead the team to back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 2020 and 2021.

The kitchen has Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.
