Congress wasn’t a good fit for Madison Cawthorn—and neither was a full-time residency in North Carolina.
The controversial single-term representative of North Carolina’s 11th district recently purchased a three-bedroom home in Cape Coral, FL, for $1,120,000.
Cawthorn was the youngest member of the House of Representatives at the time of his election in 2020, but he lost a Republican primary for his district in May. Now, he’ll be moving to new frontiers in a sunnier locale.

According to the listing, the property is practically pristine thanks to recent improvements inside and outside the 2,281-square-foot home. There’s new lighting, new floors, and new paint plus shades to block the sun’s glare.
Other fresh details include a newly resurfaced patio with a built-in stereo and entertainment center, a new roof, a new HVAC system, and new impact-resistant windows and doors.
As befits a Florida home, there’s a large pool and spa for soaking, a fridge and freezer on the patio for quick access to cold drinks, and tropical plantings that include coconut, palm, and banana trees.

Cawthorn has already moved from his duties as a representative and has made himself scarce around the nation’s capital. A new life on the Gulf of Mexico seems to be the plan for Cawthorn, though his past brushes with the law will have him flying back and forth at least three times to North Carolina to appear in court.
