Step back in time with this old-school Craftsman bungalow, the childhood home of late Hollywood and Broadway star Ginger Rogers.
The modest abode in Independence, MO, was Rogers’ birthplace in 1911.
Offered for $155,000 in early August, the property has already found a buyer and is listed in contingent status. The home last changed hands in 2020.
The nearly 1,100-square-foot, two-bedroom, 1.5-bath house was built in 1906. It was later returned to its original glory with a total restoration by Gene Padgitt and HearthMasters.
This included foundation repair, new flooring, woodwork updates, and electrical upgrades. The paint was refreshed throughout and new plumbing was put in, too. And three years ago, the roof was replaced.
Blast from the past
Fans of vintage style will love this sweet home and its fun, nostalgic details.
For starters, the kitchen boasts a line of GE appliances that have a retro aesthetic. The space also has an antique, built-in coffee grinder and a tin ceiling. New cabinets, a backsplash, and a farmhouse sink round out the kitchen’s updates.
